During the Fall, Color Guard is a beautiful sport that combines dance, athleticism, and performance skills and pairs it with the live music of a marching band. The guard uses flags, rifles, sabers and other things to spin to show off these skills. The guard and band come together to display a fully integrated show with color, props, costumes, equipment and movement on a football field. After football season, the guard then moves on to the Indoor Guard Arena, and they continue to compete as part of Tournament Indoor Association (TIA) and the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network (MAIN). For more information please contact Melissa Reagan.
2019 Indoor Competition Schedule
Concert Band is a performance based ensemble (Levels I-IV) which is designed to challenge the students in all aspects of wind and percussion playing. Students will be performing advanced high school and college level literature. Emphasis will be placed on musical elements such as phrasing, interpretation, ensemble techniques, and intonation.
The concert band received a superior rating and played at the state festival in April 2019.
The Arundel Jazz Band provides an opportunity for students interested in performing music in the jazz idiom. Emphasis is placed on development of swing, latin, rock, and contemporary styles of repertoire and performance. The Jazz Band and its combos consistently earn Superior ratings at the district and state levels! The Jazz Band frequently performs at local music venues in the metro-Baltimore area and is an often featured performance group at Maryland State Department of Education functions. If you are interested in having the Arundel Jazz Ensemble perform at your event, please contact Mr. Burns.
